Today, 24 November 2021, a Round table discussion was jointly organized by Center for Participatory Research and Development (CPRD) and Manusher Jonno Foundation (MJF), titled “CSOs Debriefing: Outcome of COP 26”. The discussion took place at the Manusher Jonno Foundation office conference hall, Dhaka from 11:00 am to 1:30 pm.
The discussion was chaired by Shaheen Anam, Executive Director, MJF, and the keynote speech was delivered by Mr. Md. Shamsuddoha, Chief Executive of CPRD, Ms. Rabeya Begum, Executive Director, Shariatpur Development Society (SDS), Shahrin Mannan, Manager ActionAid, Nusrat Jahan from Christian Aid, Md. Akib Jabed Senior Research Assistant CPRD and many other distinguished guests and CSOs organizations representatives were present in the discussion. The discussion was hosted by Md. Ahsanul Wahad, Deputy Programme Manager of MJF.
In his speech, Md Shamsuddoha said, “Instead of some limitations there have many achievements during this COP-26”. He mentioned the paramount achievement of COP 26 is that all parties have resolved to pursue efforts to limit temperature rise to 1.5 Degree C and another remarkable achievement is Strengthening NDC targets and Re-submission by the end of 2022 and Establishing a Work Programme to URGENTLY scale-up mitigation ambition. He also emphasized a legal bindings agreement to limit global average temperature rise to 1.5 degrees and Detailed reporting requirements for all and related support on loss and damage finance and less likely to get required long-term finance Expanded scopes of the private/MDBs investment in the context of green development and energy transition”. At the end of the discussions, Shaheen Anam thanked all for participation.
