On 09 December 2021, a “Bottom-up Consultation meeting” was jointly organized by Center for Participatory Research and Development (CPRD) and An Organization for Socio-Economic Development (AOSED), focusing on Identifying Local Level Climate Impacts and Adaptation Requirements for preparing National Adaptation Plan (NAP) titled “Regional Dialogue on Climate Change Impacts and Adaptation Requirements in the South-west Coastal region of Bangladesh”. The dialogue took place at Conference hall of Hotel City Inn Ltd. Khulna, from 10 am to 2.00 pm.

There were a number of representatives from different government and non-government organizations, journalists, Community people, CSOs representatives including, Md. Ali Akber Tipu, Panel Mayor and ward councilor Khulna City Corporation, Md. Abu Sayeed, Deputy Director, Department of Fisheries, Khulna, Md. Hafizur Rahman, Deputy Director, Department of Agriculture, Khulna, Md. Emdadul Huq, Deputy director, DOE Khulna, Md. Hafizur Rahman, Deputy Director of Agriculture, Khulna, Professor Dr. Md. Mustafa Saroar, head of the department URP, KUET, Dr. Mujibur Rahman, Professor, Khulna University, Saima Rahman Assistant Professor, URP, KUET

Mr. Shamim Arfeen, Executive Director of AOSED delivered the introductory speech at the beginning of the program. Afterwards, he handed over the floor to the Chief Executive of CPRD, Mr. Md. Shamsuddoha. He presented the keynote of the dialogue stating the purpose of the program. Mr. Shamsuddoha explained the background and ongoing process of National Adaptation Plan and the scopes of making it a bottom-up plan. The event included a interactive group work session where all participants divided into five groups to determine the impacts and possible adaptation strategies for Water resource, Women, Health sector, Agriculture and Non-climatic factors. The group work was ended by the presentation of the outcomes from each groups. Mr. Shamim Arfeen concluded the event with vote of thanks from the organizers.
