Rinku Das is a public health researcher with an interdisciplinary academic background. She currently works as a Senior Research Officer – Environment and Public Health at the Center for Participatory Research and Development (CPRD). Before joining CPRD, Rinku worked at the International Centre for Diarrhoeal Disease Research, Bangladesh (icddr,b) for over two years, contributing to maternal and child health research through projects such as Scaling Up Access to WASH, EDIVA-IS (Efficacy and Demonstration of Intravenous Iron for Anaemia in Pregnancy), and Connect/Shongzog (Connecting First-Time Parents to Contraceptive Services).
Rinku completed her BSc in Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology at East West University and her Master of Public Health (MPH) at North South University. During her undergraduate studies, she received the Medha Lalon Scholarship, a need-cum-merit-based award at East West University. Her undergraduate research explored screening and characterizing soil-isolated, cellulase-producing bacteria for their potential applications in waste recycling and sustainable industrial bioprocesses. She has first-authored and co-authored publications in peer-reviewed journals on menstrual disorders among healthcare professionals, body dysmorphic disorder, and emotional and behavioural problems among adolescents in vulnerable communities. Her research interests include climate-induced vulnerabilities and their impacts on infectious disease epidemiology, as well as improving maternal and child health outcomes through evidence-based research to inform public health responses to climate-related health risks.
Beyond her professional work, she has promoted environmental awareness through Oxygen Book, a social media initiative through which she and her friends organized free tree-distribution campaigns during their student years. Her commitment to environmental sustainability complements her interest in research that supports healthier, more resilient communities. Outside of work, she enjoys travelling and gardening.
