Ahmed Samira is working for CPRD as a Senior Research Officer – Environment and Public Health, with a clinical background and a doctor by profession, Samira is a passionate public health advocate. She completed her M.B.B.S from Rajshahi Medical College and Hospital and a Master’s in Public Health from NIPSOM, where she majored in Epidemiology.
Samira was recruited by the country’s leading public health organization icddr,b due to her outstanding performance during her master’s course. Her thesis work on the Health-related Quality of Life of Tuberculosis patients rewarded her to work as a Research Fellow at icddr,b, where she contributed to the ACTB project funded by USAID, where she sharpened her skills in clinical research and quantitative data analysis. Samira’s work spans a spectrum of impactful projects, from exploring coastal fishermen’s livelihoods and lifestyles to investigating the dengue disease’s severity in Dhaka’s hospitals.
With a collaborative spirit, she has lent her talents to numerous research initiatives, engaging in report writing, data analysis, interpretation, and the art of hosting scientific dissemination seminars. Her experience also encompasses the selection of appropriate study designs, and developing research protocols. Samira is also a registered reviewer of papers for the Indian Journal of Tuberculosis, under Elsevier.
Aiming to intertwine her clinical knowledge with public health, Samira embraces a holistic approach that seeks to contribute to the betterment of her community. Her hobbies include learning new languages and a keen interest in different cultures and practices. She already knows and speaks N5 Japanese and knows how to read and write Hangeul (Korean alphabet).
