Shanjia Shams, currently working as a Research Officer-Gender and Human Rights at CPRD is a dedicated young professional with a profound commitment to understanding and mitigating the impact of climate change. She pursued her bachelor’s degree in Bangladesh Studies from Noakhali Science and Technology University (NSTU). Initially after joining CPRD, Shanjia had the opportunity to work on various projects. Recently, she co-authored a published study finding on the nexus between Gender and Climate Issues in Bangladesh to evaluate the impacts of climate change-induced natural hazards on women and their human rights implications. Shanjia also contributed to the project ‘Research and Advocacy for Climate Justice for LDCs, Bangladesh in particular under the Paris Climate Agreement’.

In her role as a Research Officer, Shanjia is engaged in cutting-edge research, collaborating with experts worldwide to explore innovative solutions aimed at addressing the complex challenges posed by climate-induced loss and damage. Her research interest lies in Roles of different genders in climate change adaptation and mitigation, Gender Justice, National Adaptation Plans Nature-based solutions and Just Transition. In her daily endeavors, she strives to bridge the gap between science and policy, advocating for sustainable practices and policies that have the potential to make a tangible difference in the ongoing battle against the impacts of climate change. Through her dedication to this cause, she envisions a more resilient and environmentally conscious future for communities worldwide.
