Nuzhat Fatima Purnota

Nuzhat Fatima Purnota is a Research Intern at Center for Participatory Research and Development (CPRD). She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Environmental Science and Management from Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB). Her academic and professional contributions focus on evidence-based strategies for climate resilience. Upon receiving the 2024 ICCCAD CAP-RES Research Grant, funded by the Embassy of Sweden, she conducted specialized research on the transition from adaptation to loss and damage within vulnerable coastal communities in Satkhira, focusing on policy analysis. Her professional experience includes serving as a National Research Analyst for the National Geographic Society and The Nature Conservancy, where she produced analytical briefs on marine conservation challenges and the blue economy. Her work also involved disability inclusive disaster risk management (DiDRM), particularly at CBM Global Disability Inclusion, where she worked in their Rohingya Response Program.

Nuzhat is a frequent contributor to The Financial Express, where she publishes investigative Op-Eds on Blue Economy, Climate Change, and sustainability. Her research has been featured in international conference proceedings, reflecting her interests in Climate Change Adaptation, Loss and Damage, and Climate Finance. She is proficient in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and qualitative research methodologies.

Outside of her professional pursuits, Nuzhat loves travelling and is an active astronomy outreach facilitator, and enjoys stargazing.
