Mst. Eshita Akter is presently serving as a Research Intern in the ongoing project “Research and Advocacy for Climate Justice for LDCs, Bangladesh, under the Paris Climate Agreement” at the Center for Participatory Research and Development (CPRD), Bangladesh. She holds BSc and MSc degrees in Oceanography from Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST), Sylhet, where her academic focus has centered on marine environmental change, coastal ecosystem health, and the impacts of climate change on microbial communities in marine environments.
Prior to joining CPRD, Eshita actively participated in several research projects related to marine biodiversity, coastal ecosystem mapping, oyster habitat relationships, and microplastic pollution in Bangladesh’s coastal regions. She also worked as a surveyor in the GIZ-supported CONNECT project, which focuses on the protection of mangroves, swamp forests, and marine areas.
She has presented her research at international academic conferences, including the 3rd International Conference on Sustainable Fisheries. In recognition of her academic excellence, she received a research grant from the International Centre for Ocean Governance Scholarship at University of Dhaka for the 2024–2025 academic year.
In addition to her research background, her technical skills include geospatial analysis, remote sensing data analysis, and statistical programming using R and Python. Eshita is passionate about interdisciplinary research that supports sustainable ocean governance, climate resilience, and community-based environmental management.
