Hossina Abrar Tasfia Khan is a Research Intern at the Center for Participatory Research and Development (CPRD) and is currently completing her Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science and Management at North South University. Her academic training has included Climate Change, Environment and Health, Environmental Hazards and Disaster Management, and Environmental Impact Assessment and Monitoring, alongside training in GIS and environmental data analysis.
Throughout her undergraduate studies, Hossina has developed practical experience in environmental sampling and analysis, soil and water quality assessment, GIS-based work, field research, data interpretation, and technical reporting. She has also engaged with environmental and climate policy through youth advocacy programmes, climate change negotiation training, and policy dialogues.
Before joining CPRD, Hossina worked as an Education Consultant, where she developed experience in communication, client engagement, coordination, and problem-solving. These experiences have strengthened her ability to work with diverse stakeholders and communicate complex information clearly.
Her interests lie at the intersection of environmental health, climate change, disaster management, and vulnerable communities. She is particularly interested in understanding how environmental and climate-related risks affect people differently, and how socioeconomic conditions, human behaviour, and access to resources shape vulnerability and resilience. She is also interested in psychology and human behaviour as tools for better understanding socioeconomic issues, and in pursuing multidisciplinary research that brings together environmental science with social and human dimensions.
Hossina hopes to pursue a career in multidisciplinary research and policy, exploring the interconnected relationships between environmental health, human wellbeing, disaster risk, and the welfare of both people and animals. She is particularly interested in work that brings together scientific understanding and the social realities of communities to address environmental challenges in a more holistic and inclusive way.
