Md Shamsuddoha

Chief Executive

Md Shamsuddoha is the Chief Executive of Center for Participatory Research and Development –CPRD (, a research-based non-government organization in Bangladesh. He is a member of the delegation of the government of Bangladesh to the UNFCCC climate change negotiation and has been consistent in the following negotiation especially on loss and damage, finance, adaptation, and technology transfer. Md Shamsuddoha has involved the implementation of a number of projects with different academic institutions in the country and abroad, especially on climate change, disaster risk reduction and coastal and marine resources conservation etc. He wrote and co-authored numbers of articles on core climate change politics and diplomacy, displacement and migration etc; also has been acting as an external reviewer of a few journals on climate policies.

Rumana Sharmin

Senior Research Associate

Rumana Sharmin started her career as an academician and later on she involved in diversified research arenas. She joined CPRD as Senior Research Associate, and is responsible to supervise all Senior and Junior Research Assistants. Her key responsibilities are to coordinate and implement research activities, and coordinate with the Finance and Administration Department as well. She has work experiences in North- South University, and C3ER under BRAC University where she devoted herself to work in the field of climate change and environmental related issues. She is also a current Adjunct Lecturer in Presidency University. She expanded her educations in multiple academic fields. She is an Environmental Science graduate from Khulna University. She has dual Masters’ degrees on Water Resource Development from BUET and Management of Natural Resources and Environment from Germany. She was both merit and academic scholarships recipient during her undergraduate and graduate study programs. Her research interests are climate change concerns, water and food security, sustainable development, climate resilient approach, pollution control, natural resource management and other environmental nexus.

Shohel Mahmud Nobel

Senior Accounts & Admin Officer

Shohel Mahmud Nobel is responsible for the financial management activities of CPRD. He joined at CPRD in April 2019 as a Senior Accounts and Admin Officer. He supervise and manages the overall budgetary and financial issues of CPRD. He maintains liaison with donor organizations, NGOs, and other related stakeholders. He also maintains and controls the administrative issues, procurement and logistic supports for CPRD. Before joining this organization, he worked at Tradexcel Ceramices Ltd. He was responsible for managing the accounts, budget, financial operations and reporting, auditing, monitoring monthly report statement of labor. Shohel Mahmud Nobel completed his BBA and MBA from Dhaka College under the University of Dhaka in Management and Chatter Accountant Course Completed CA (CC) from Institute of Chartered Accountant Bangladesh (ICAB).

S. M. Saify Iqbal

Senior Research Assistant

Saify Iqbal works at Centre for Participatory Research and Development (CPRD) as a Senior Research Assistant in a project titled “Advocacy to enhance Climate Justice in the LDC’s, particularly in Bangladesh, under the WARSHAW International Mechanism (WIM) on loss and damage”. Before joining this organization, he worked at Department of Architecture, BRAC University as "Researcher: Built Environment and GIS". Previously, he worked at ICDDRB as a Senior Research Assistant (GIS). His project was about mapping urban health facilities in major urban centers. Saify also worked as a research assistant at CCDB (Christian Commission for Development in Bangladesh) and CCJB (Centre for Climate Justice-Bangladesh). Saify Iqbal completed his MSc and BSc from the University of Dhaka in Geography and Environment. His area of interest includes climate change & development, urban environmental management, and wetland management in Bangladesh.

Sabrina Sharmin

Junior Research Assistant

Sabrina Sharmin joined CPRD in March 2019 as a Junior Research Assistant in the project entitled “Research and Advocacy to enhance climate justice for LDCs, Bangladesh in Particular under the Paris Climate Agreement”. Sabrina did her Bachelor of Urban & Regional Planning (BURP) from Rajshahi University of Engineering & Technology. She is now doing Master of Science in GIS for Environment and Development (MSGED) at Jahangirnagar University. She was a member of the Champion Group in Compact Township Design Competition, 2016 Organized by Compact Township Foundation (CTF), Dhaka, Bangladesh and Department of Urban and Regional Planning, Bangladesh University of Engineering & Technology (BUET). She has worked as a non-paid intern in the project of Detailed Area Plan (DAP) under RAJUK (Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha). Her areas of research interest are Environmental Planning, Climate Change Impacts and Adaptation, Disaster Management, Urban & Environmental Economics, Urban planning, Rural planning, Regional planning, any type of work related to the “GIS software” etc.

Sohel Rana

Junior Accounts Officer

Sohel Rana ,accountant personnel is responsible for the financial management activities of CPRD in a project titled “Promoting Protection And Solidarity for Climate Migrants and Displaced Communities in South Asia-CANSA (Climate Action Network South Asia)”. He joined at CPRD in September 2018 as a Junior Accounts Officer. Prior to this, he worked at BRAC Bank Ltd & Eastern Bank Ltd as a Collection Executive consecutively. Sohel Rana completed his BBA in Finance from Asian University of Bangladesh and MBA in Accounting & Finance from Institute of Business Administration (IBA), university of Rajshahi. His area of interest includes Public Accounting, Auditing, Accounting Educations and Climate Change.

Mayisha Salsabil Aliya

Research Intern

Mayisha Salsabil Aliya is working as a Research Intern at CPRD (Center for Participatory Research and Development) working to enhance climate justice for LDCs, Bangladesh in Particular under the Paris Climate Agreement. She has done her graduate and post-graduate in Disaster and Human Security Management at BUP (Bangladesh University of Professionals). Was accepted and participated in DREE (Disaster Response Exercise and Exchange) organized by the Armed Forces Division (AFD). Her research interest include socio-economic risk assessment, fire assessment, soil erosion damage and loss, using remote sensing to assess temperature, GIS (Geographic Information System) for analysis and map making.

Mir Mehoraf Sharif

Research Assistant (Advocacy & Communication)

Mir Mehoraf Sharif, at present working as a Research Assistant (Advocacy & Communication) at Center for Participatory Research & Development (CPRD). Before CPRD Mr. Sharif has served as an ICT trainer at Society for Bright Social Service under the learning and earning development project of the ministry of ICT Government of Bangladesh. He also has experience in working at Airtel Bangladesh Ltd. as customer service supervisor and distribution Manager from 2009 to 2014. During this time he along with his team wins the best Distributor award (DON#1 in the country) in 2013. Mr. Sharif earned his bachelor degree in Computer Science and Engineering from State University of Bangladesh. His field of interest includes ICT in climate change and Blue economy, technological use in climate change adaptation, Green Energy etc.
