Md ShamsuddohaChief Executive
Md Shamsuddoha is the Chief Executive of Center for Participatory Research and Development –CPRD (www.cprdbd.org), a research-based non-government organization in Bangladesh. He is a member of the delegation of the government of Bangladesh to the UNFCCC climate change negotiation and has been consistent in the following negotiation especially on loss and damage, finance, adaptation, and technology transfer. Md Shamsuddoha has involved the implementation of a number of projects with different academic institutions in the country and abroad, especially on climate change, disaster risk reduction and coastal and marine resources conservation etc. He wrote and co-authored numbers of articles on core climate change politics and diplomacy, displacement and migration etc; also has been acting as an external reviewer of a few journals on climate policies.
Rumana SharminSenior Research Associate
Rumana Sharmin started her career as an academician and later on she involved in diversified research arenas. She joined CPRD as Senior Research Associate, and is responsible to supervise all Senior and Junior Research Assistants. Her key responsibilities are to coordinate and implement research activities, and coordinate with the Finance and Administration Department as well. She has work experiences in North- South University, and C3ER under BRAC University where she devoted herself to work in the field of climate change and environmental related issues. She is also a current Adjunct Lecturer in Presidency University. She expanded her educations in multiple academic fields. She is an Environmental Science graduate from Khulna University. She has dual Masters’ degrees on Water Resource Development from BUET and Management of Natural Resources and Environment from Germany. She was both merit and academic scholarships recipient during her undergraduate and graduate study programs. Her research interests are climate change concerns, water and food security, sustainable development, climate resilient approach, pollution control, natural resource management and other environmental nexus.
Shohel Mahmud NobelSenior Accounts & Admin Officer
Shohel Mahmud Nobel is responsible for the financial management activities of CPRD. He joined at CPRD in April 2019 as a Senior Accounts and Admin Officer. He supervise and manages the overall budgetary and financial issues of CPRD. He maintains liaison with donor organizations, NGOs, and other related stakeholders. He also maintains and controls the administrative issues, procurement and logistic supports for CPRD. Before joining this organization, he worked at Tradexcel Ceramices Ltd. He was responsible for managing the accounts, budget, financial operations and reporting, auditing, monitoring monthly report statement of labor. Shohel Mahmud Nobel completed his BBA and MBA from Dhaka College under the University of Dhaka in Management and Chatter Accountant Course Completed CA (CC) from Institute of Chartered Accountant Bangladesh (ICAB).
Md. Akib JabedSenior Research Assistant
Md. Akib Jabed works at Centre for Participatory Research and Development (CPRD) as a Senior Research Assistant. Currently, he is working in the project entitled ‘Research and Advocacy to enhance climate change justice for LDCs, Bangladesh in particular under Paris Climate Agreement’. Mr. Jabed has recently completed his Master's in Urban Management and Development from Institute for Housing and Urban Development Studies (IHS), Erasmus University Rotterdam, The Netherlands. He was awarded with the prestigious OKP Fellowship by the Dutch Government to study MSc in the Netherlands. Before that he completed his Bachelor and Master's study in Geography and Environmental Studies from the University of Chittagong. He has accomplished his academic chapters with excellent results and merit scholarships. Throughout his academic journey he has successfully participated in several socio-economic and environmental research works. Moreover, he has independently conducted different research projects in his home country and abroad. Since 2015, he has actively worked in different professional research projects with many leading researchers from different countries. Throughout his tenure in the research arena, he commendably applied diverse research methods Alongside, Mr. Jabed has successfully published a significant number of research papers in many well-recognized international and national journals and presented paper in national conference as well. He has a strong penchant in the research field of Climate Change Impacts, Urban Environmental Issues, Nature-Based Solutions, Public Health and Water Resource Management etc.
Dr. Hoimonti BaruaResearch Assistant
Dr. Hoimonti Barua joined Centre for Participatory Research and Development (CPRD) as a Research Assistant and is involved in the project titled ‘Research and Advocacy to enhance climate change justice for LDCs, Bangladesh in particular under Paris Climate Agreement’. Ms. Barua has a Ph.D. from Jawaharlal Nehru University, India. She is a Visiting Fellow at the Nepal Institute of International Cooperation and Engagement in Nepal. Before CPRD she has interned at Engender Health, a New Delhi based international non-governmental organization. She was a recipient of the prestigious doctoral fellowship of the ICSSR. She has presented research papers in several international conferences and also has numerous publications in various national and international journals and digital news portals. She is a qualitative researcher; her area of research interests are multidisciplinary including but not limited to climate change, migration, displacement, and foreign policy analysis of Bangladesh in particular and South Asian region in general.
Jeba TashnimJunior Research Assistant
Jeba Tashnim works at Centre of Participatory Research and Development (CPRD) as a junior research assistant under the project titled ‘Research and Advocacy to enhance climate justice for LDCs, Bangladesh in Particular under the Paris Climate Agreement’. Jeba has completed her Masters in Urban and Regional planning from The University of Sydney, Sydney, Australia. She was Awarded with Denis Winston Memorial Scholarship in Urban and Regional Planning by the University during her Masters. Before that she completed her Bachelor in Urban and Regional planning from Khulna University of Engineering and Technology, Khulna, Bangladesh. She has worked in City of Sydney Council in Australia as Strategic Planner and Urban Designer Intern. She also has experience working in Bangladesh in Different Consultancy firms as Urban Planner and GIS Assistant. She is an Efficient user of GIS and Remote Sensing. Her Research Interests include climate change impacts and adaptation, Urban planning, Environmental and resource management, Environmental Planning and Disaster Management.
Sohel RanaJunior Accounts Officer
Sohel Rana ,accountant personnel is responsible for the financial management activities of CPRD in a project titled “Promoting Protection And Solidarity for Climate Migrants and Displaced Communities in South Asia-CANSA (Climate Action Network South Asia)”. He joined at CPRD in September 2018 as a Junior Accounts Officer. Prior to this, he worked at BRAC Bank Ltd & Eastern Bank Ltd as a Collection Executive consecutively. Sohel Rana completed his BBA in Finance from Asian University of Bangladesh and MBA in Accounting & Finance from Institute of Business Administration (IBA), university of Rajshahi. His area of interest includes Public Accounting, Auditing, Accounting Educations and Climate Change.
Sadia ZamanResearch Intern
Sadia Zaman works at Center for Participatory Research and Development (CPRD) as a research intern in the project titled ‘Research and Advocacy to enhance climate justice for LDCs, Bangladesh in Particular under the Paris Climate Agreement’. She has completed her graduation in Geography and Environment from Shahjalal University of Science and Technology. Now, she is enrolled at University of Dhaka for her post-graduation in Development Studies. She was involved in a project called Transboundary Rivers of South Asia-(TROSA) at Oxfam as a volunteer. Her research interests include climate justice, climate change impacts, coastal environment and ecosystems of Bangladesh and environmental and resource management.
Mir Mehoraf SharifResearch Assistant (Advocacy & Communication)
Mir Mehoraf Sharif, at present working as a Research Assistant (Advocacy & Communication) at Center for Participatory Research & Development (CPRD). Before CPRD Mr. Sharif has served as an ICT trainer at Society for Bright Social Service under the learning and earning development project of the ministry of ICT Government of Bangladesh. He also has experience in working at Airtel Bangladesh Ltd. as customer service supervisor and distribution Manager from 2009 to 2014. During this time he along with his team wins the best Distributor award (DON#1 in the country) in 2013. Mr. Sharif earned his bachelor degree in Computer Science and Engineering from State University of Bangladesh. His field of interest includes ICT in climate change and Blue economy, technological use in climate change adaptation, Green Energy etc.
