CSO’s Call on the Human Rights Day 2020: Ensure Rights of the Climate Migrants, Ensure Rights of the Women Migrants in terms of COVID-19 and Climate Change Recovery

On 10 December 2020 – International Human Rights Day, Center for Participatory Research and Development (CPRD) along with  Christian Commission for Development in Bangladesh (CCDB), Coastal Development Partnership (CDP), Network on Climate Change in Bangladesh (NCC,B), Shariatpur Development Society(SDS) and, Young Power in Social Action(YPSA) organized a seminar titled ‘CSO’s Call on the Human Rights Day 2020: Ensure Rights of the Climate Migrants, Ensure Rights of the Women Migrants in terms of COVID-19 and Climate Change Recovery’ at the Dhaka Reporters Unity. Md. Shamsuddoha- Chief Executive of CPRD moderated the event, Quamrul Islam Chowdhury- Chairman at Forum of Environmental Journalists of Bangladesh, Kawsar Rahman- City Editor at Daily Janakantha, Jahangir Hasan Masum-Executive Director of CDP, Mahmudul Hasan-Coordinator of CCBD, Forruq Rahman- Manager Research & Advocacy of NCCB spoke in the event. Md. Akib Jabed, Senior Research Assistant at CPRD presented some recent findings on the COVID-19 situation in Bangladesh such as the nexus between climate change, women and human rights, the socio-economic impacts due to the pandemic, and how Bangladesh is responding to them in terms of stimulus packages and their fallouts followed by some recommendations. Md. Shamsuddoha emphasizes a human rights-based response for addressing both COVID-19 and the climate crisis.
