Today, 18 November 2021, Dwip Unnayan Sangstha (DUS), in collaboration with Center for Participatory Research and Development (CPRD) and Lancaster University, UK, hosted a regional bottom-up dialogue on “Youth in Entrepreneurship: Opportunities and Challenges” The discussion took conducted from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Upazila office in Ramgati, Laxmipur.
The dialogue was facilitated by Mr. Humayun Sikder, Human Resources Coordinator at DUS, and Mr. Tapos Das, Research Associate at BRAC University. Mr. Md. Akib Jabed, Senior Research Assistant, Mr. Sheikh Nur Ataya Rabbi, Junior Research Assistant, and Mr. Md Shahnul Islam, Research Fellow from CPRD were also in attendance. Executive Director of Dwip Unnayan Sangshtha (DUS) chaired the event and the chief guest was Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of Ramgati, Laxmipur. This dialogue is an initiative under the project “GCRF Living Deltas Hub research in the Ganges-Brahmaputra-Meghna Delta”.
21 stakeholders were represented in this conversation under several categories. Stakeholders were invited from various institutions and groups such as local service providers (financial institutions, Government Youth Development Directorate, local agriculture extension office), technical/vocational centers, local youth representatives, local entrepreneurs, civil society representatives, local government representatives, and representatives from the ongoing household diary research. Through group discussions, poster presentations, and voting, stakeholders shared their experiences. The discussions were mainly centered on the prospects, challenges, and recommendations for Youth entrepreneurship in the region.
